Meet your learning car:

Renault Zoe

The car you’ll learn to drive in, is a 2015 Renault Zoe i-Dynamique Intens. It’s all electric, automatic transmission, and is classified as a Zero Emissions (Z.E.) vehicle. Sometimes it’s also called a ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle).

The power comes from a 22kwh battery, which is recharged from the mains – kind of like your phone. The driving experience is almost identical to any other automatic ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car.

The main differences you’ll notice are the lack of engine noise, and there are no delays for gear changes as power delivery is seamless.

The gear selector still features (P)ark, (R)everse, (D)rive, and (N)eutral. This means if you buy an ICE powered car after you pass your test, you won’t need to re-learn how to drive on your own.
